Deepen: Costa Rica Retreat
A five-night immersive retreat for individuals, couples and families who want to live in deeper relationship with themselves, one another, Nature, and God.
September 27th- October 2nd 2026
w/ Dhyana & Viraeverything exists in relationship.
Nothing exists alone.
Our lives are one living field of relationship, and when one part becomes disconnected, the whole is affected. When relationship is restored in one place, healing begins to move through the entire system.
Even Ayurveda is, at its heart, a science of relationship.
It teaches us to look not only at the individual parts of a life, but at the field they exist within. It asks us to notice how one thing is affecting another, where relationship has been lost, and what must be restored for life to become whole again.
Deepen is a five-night immersive retreat for individuals and couples who want to become more conscious in how they relate—to themselves, to others, to Nature, and to the sacred.
Because so much of what wounds us happens in relationship.
And so much of what heals us must happen there, too.
Yet very few of us were ever taught how to do relationship well. How to live in right relationship with LIFE. how to remain connected to ourselves while loving another. How to communicate without abandoning our truth. How to move through conflict without closing our hearts.
At Deepen, we will explore relationship not simply as something we have, but as an orientation to life.
We will create a structure in which you can practice living in real relationship—so that your everyday life becomes a place where healing and growth are continually available.
This retreat is for those who want to grow through relationship
Deepen is for those who want to:
remain connected to themselves while in relationship with others
understand the patterns shaping how they love, protect, communicate, and respond
heal relational and attachment wounds within a safe and conscious field
develop greater emotional maturity and relational capacity
communicate with more honesty, clarity, and compassion
move through conflict in ways that create growth rather than greater separation
build relationships rooted in truth rather than performance, avoidance, or self-abandonment
deepen their relationship with Nature and live in greater alignment with her rhythms
create a life that supports continual healing, remembrance, and growth
experience relationship as a path of spiritual practice
It is for people with vision.
People who sense that there is more available in how we live, love, listen, communicate, and meet one another.
More honesty. More intimacy. More freedom. More belonging. More truth. More life.
Whatever season you are in, you are welcome here.
Why Costa Rica?
Costa Rica carries a certain medicine.
The warmth, the water, the lushness, and the rhythm of the natural world invite us to return to what is essential.
We live inside walls, move according to artificial schedules, override the body’s signals, and spend much of our lives disconnected from the living world around us. We may be surrounded by people and yet rarely feel deeply met.
Costa Rica offers us another rhythm.
Here, the body can soften. The nervous system can settle. The senses can open.
We can remember that we belong to something larger than ourselves.
Nature will not simply be the backdrop for this retreat. She will be one of our teachers.
Through meditation, movement, time near water, nourishing food, group practice, and the living presence of the jungle, we will explore what becomes possible when we return to relationship with life itself.
What this retreat offers
Five nights devoted to becoming more fully alive in your relationship with yourself, Nature, each other and God
Throughout the retreat, we will create a living structure that supports both depth and nourishment.
You will have space to:
receive a structure of life that supports dynamic relationship with life in every moment
understand the relational patterns shaping your life
explore how your past continues to live within your present relationships
develop greater capacity for communication, intimacy, boundaries, and repair
learn how to listen without losing yourself or immediately becoming defensive
recognize the ways you protect yourself from being truly seen
experience healing within the safety and intelligence of a conscious group
deepen your relationship with your body, Nature, and God
rest, play, reflect, and integrate
For couples, there will be opportunities to explore the living field of your partnership and practice new ways of meeting one another.
For individuals, there will be opportunities to deepen your relationship with yourself and understand how you enter, shape, and experience every relationship in your life.
Much of the work will happen collectively, because healing does not only occur through understanding ourselves privately.
It also happens as we are witnessed.
As we risk being honest.
As we are met differently than we may have been met before.
Come individually or with someone you love
Deepen is open to:
individuals who want to deepen their capacity for relationship
couples who want to strengthen or renew their partnership
people healing from relational or attachment wounds
people preparing themselves for a future partnership
parents who want to transform the relational field of their family
newly coupled partners building a conscious foundation
long-term partners entering a new season
people navigating transition, grief, change, or expansion
those who want to live in greater relationship with Nature and the sacred
anyone who knows that healing alone is not the same as learning to live in relationship
A retreat that welcomes parents, too
As parents ourselves, we know that childcare can be one of the greatest barriers to receiving meaningful support.
We also know that the health of a family is deeply connected to the relational health of the adults within it.
When we learn to remain with ourselves, repair after rupture, communicate honestly, and create safety without abandoning truth, our children experience a different relational world.
So we have created options to make attending more possible for parents:
Kids Camp Option
We will have a Kids Camp available for children ages 3–7, allowing parents to participate in the retreat while their children are held in a warm, creative, nature-based environment nearby.
Bring a Caregiver
If you’d prefer to bring your own caregiver, you’re welcome to do that too — they can attend for the cost of accommodations only.
Because your relationship matters too.
Not just before children.
Not someday when life slows down.
Now.

The foundations of relational living
1. Relationship with Self
Every relationship begins with our capacity to remain connected to ourselves.
We will explore what it means to stay with yourself in moments of discomfort—to notice your body, hear your truth, honor your boundaries, and meet your emotions without shaming, abandoning, or overriding yourself.
Because we cannot truly meet another person from a self we have left behind.
2. Understanding Our Relational Patterns
Our relationships often activate the oldest parts of us.
We will explore the protective strategies, attachment patterns, and adaptive structures that formed within our earliest relationships—and how they continue to shape the way we communicate, withdraw, pursue, please, control, defend, or disappear.
These patterns are not evidence that something is wrong with us.
They were intelligent responses to what we once needed to survive.
But what protected us then may now be preventing the intimacy and freedom we long for.
3. Communication That Creates Connection
Communication is more than choosing the right words.
It asks us to become aware of the energy beneath our words, the stories we are carrying, and the places where we are no longer truly listening.
We will practice communicating in ways that create greater clarity, understanding, truth, and connection rather than defensiveness or repetition of the same cycles.
4. Conflict, Boundaries, and Repair
A healthy relationship is not one without rupture.
It is one in which rupture can become a path toward deeper understanding.
We will explore how to move through disagreement without abandoning ourselves or dehumanizing the other. How to hold boundaries without closing the heart. How to take responsibility without collapsing into shame. And how to repair in ways that create real change.
5. Intimacy and the Capacity to Be Met
Many of us long to be deeply seen while simultaneously protecting ourselves from being known.
We will explore the relationship between vulnerability, safety, desire, truth, and intimacy—and the ways we may unconsciously keep love at a distance.
Intimacy begins when we can remain in contact with ourselves while in connection with another.
6. Relationship with Nature
Ayurveda teaches us that health is not something we create in isolation.
It arises through right relationship—with food, sleep, light, movement, seasons, place, and the wider living world.
We will return to Nature not as a resource to consume, but as a relationship to remember.
7. Relationship with God and the Sacred
Beyond our individual stories is the deeper question of what our lives are in service to.
Through meditation, ritual, prayer, embodiment, and reflection, we will explore relationship as a spiritual path—a place where we are invited to surrender what is false and become more available to love.
This is not about becoming perfect at relationship.
It is about developing the awareness and capacity to let relationship continually bring us into greater wholeness.
Imagine five nights held within a different way of living.
Imagine waking in the Costa Rican jungle with nowhere to rush.
Beginning the morning in silence, prayer, meditation, or movement.
Eating food prepared with care.
Being surrounded by people who are also willing to look honestly at how they live and relate.
Imagine having the space to understand why the same patterns keep appearing in your life - and being supported to practice something new.
Imagine learning how to remain connected to yourself when you are triggered.
How to tell the truth without using it as a weapon.
How to listen without disappearing.
How to create boundaries without closing your heart.
Being met without needing to hide.
Experiencing the healing that becomes possible when we are allowed to remain fully ourselves while still belonging.
Imagine leaving Costa Rica not only with beautiful memories, but with a different orientation to life.
A structure that helps you remain in relationship with your body, your truth, the people you love, Nature, and God.
A way of living in which your relationships do not merely repeat your wounds.
They become one of the places through which you heal.

Shuttle to and from San Jose is included!
There will be one shuttle picking guests up at Adventure Inn at 8am on September 27th. We are recommending guests to fly into SJO and book the night at Adventure Inn on September 26th to be ready to join the group shuttle Saturday morning.
The return shuttle will leave Samasati around 7:30 AM on October 2nd heading straight to San José (SJO) airport. The drive typically takes between 4 to 6 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions.
With that in mind, you have two options:
Book a later afternoon flight on October 2nd (to allow for travel time and airport check-in),
orStay overnight in San José on the 2nd and fly out the following day.
Airport Transfers The closest international airport to Samasati is Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO) in San Jose. This international airport is a 4-6 hour drive from Samasati or 90 minutes of travel via domestic flight to Limon airport with a shuttle ride to Samasati.
4 – 6 hour scenic drive with local food along the way
If you are in a road trip / exploration mood you can drive, take a private taxi or a shuttle service. The middle part of the drive is quite scenic as you will go through the mountains in a national park and you will get to stop over at spots serving local food. This drive duration will vary on traffic and how long you stop.
The shuttle ride is about $52 per person and the private taxi is $200. If there are more than 6 of you, we would charter a private shuttle for you which would be more cost effective.
Please check https://www.caribeshuttle.com/ for the latest schedule for departures from San Jose Airport to Samasati ( enter Puerto Viejo as the destination to get the schedule). Caribe recommends that you land 90 – 120 mins before the departure of the shuttle as it could take time to go through customs and collect luggage. However, our guests have made it with an hour to spare if you want to take that chance.
Local plane ( https://www.flysansa.com/en )
If you would rather just land and get here as quickly as possible there are local flights available:
– SJO To Limon Airport- 35 minute flight – about $100
Caribe Shuttle (https://www.caribeshuttle.com/) from Limon to Samasati – 40 minute drive – about $22Overnight Stay before heading to Samasasti
If you land too late to make the shuttle or the flight, then you can stay overnight at our partner hotel https://www.adventure-inn.com/ – they will give you a discount if you mentioned Samasati Yoga & Wellness Retreat referred you.

us
We believe relationship is one of the primary ways life teaches us.
We believe the places where we struggle in relationship are not separate from our healing. They often reveal the precise places asking for our attention, compassion, responsibility, and growth.
We also believe relationship is not limited to romantic partnership.
We are always in relationship—with our bodies, our histories, our families, the land, the sacred, the moment, and every person we encounter.
Most of us were never taught how to do this well.
We learned how to protect ourselves. How to adapt. How to earn belonging. How to hide what felt unacceptable. How to abandon parts of ourselves to remain connected to others.
These strategies may have once been necessary. But over time, they can become the very structures keeping us from the intimacy, truth, freedom, and belonging we long for.
Deepen was born from our desire to create a space where relationship can be consciously practiced.
A place where we learn not only how to understand our patterns, but how to meet one another differently.
How to remain with ourselves.
How to listen.
How to hold boundaries.
How to repair.
How to let relationship become a path of healing, spiritual growth, and profound aliveness.
Vira & Dhyana
Our relationship has been a sacred path for both of us for a very long time.
We have known one another since before we were teenagers. We still have notes from those early years, dreaming of the day we would wake in the same bed and share the same last name. There was something in us, even then, that recognized the depth of what we were meant to become together.
We have now been in a committed relationship for 15 years, married for 11, and are raising three beautiful children together.
Our devotion to relationship is rooted in the understanding that relationship is the ground of life itself.
Dhyana is an Ayurveda Health Counselor, educator, and author devoted to supporting women, mothers, and families in restoring relationship with their bodies, Nature, one another, and God.
Vira offers psycho-somatic counseling, guiding individuals and couples through trauma healing, purpose, desire, authentic power, and relational wholeness.
Together, we are devoted to creating a life that is not merely loving from the outside, but honest, conscious, nourishing, and alive from within.
This retreat is for those who know there is more available
